about us

A group effort from multiple parties, isfahanweek.ir is a website focused on the entrepreneurial ecosystem of Isfahan, showcasing the city’s current start up activities and talents. This website was created to document all activities related to events held in Isfahan all throughout this year’s International Entrepreneurial Week(Oct 7-14, 2016).

According to Forbes’s recent article, Iran has the potential to become a powerful hub for entrepreneurs in the Middle East for the following 7 reasons:

1- The size of the economy and the lifting of world sanctions
2- Iran has one of the largest highly educated populations.
3- Iran’s particular strength in tech fields.
4- Despite the American sanctions, ties are forming between entrepreneurial communities in Iran and the United States.
5- The country’s infrastructure is undergoing a renewal.
6- Change is happening faster than people expect.
7- The startup scene is just entering what could be it’s heyday.

While Iran as a whole presents a powerful opportunity for start ups, the city of Isfahan in particular is possibly the most underutilized section of Iran’s entrepreneurial ecosystem. Isfahan is not only located at the geographical center of Iran, making it an important logistical hub for producers, but it is also home to a vast number of research centers, universities, and large manufacturers.
All of this alongside over 2,000 years of rich heritage and landmarks, which are the subject of an ever increasing flow of international tourists and art lovers. With strong economic and cultural foundations to support growth, Isfahan has a strong potential to harbor amazing and influential entrepreneurial activity for the near future
